Before you set off on your curious case, there are a few things you need to know...
Unfortunately, this Trail is not marked as accessible for pushchairs and wheelchair as there is a riverside path and a wheelchair unfriendly bridge to cross.
There are a couple of car parks close to the Trail start point, on West Row Car Park (TS18 1BT). Your case then commences on the main shopping area (High Street) at TS18 1AU - close to the Town Hall and Market Cross.
There are public toilets available close to the start point at The Shambles shopping centre and again in Wellington Square. As Stockton is a good sized town, the route will pass a few pubs, cafes and shops along the way, offering plenty of opportunities for refreshments. During the Trail, you'll be exploring along the edge of the River Tees, so why not bring a picnic with you and soak up the ambience along here? You could even follow the optional diversion to the Tees Barrier, where there is plenty to explore, along with a pub and picnic area.
Once you've cracked the case, why not extend your visit? As well as the White Water Course at the end of the optional detour, there is the ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Billingham Forum (with its wide array of facilities, such as swimming pool, gym, play barn and theatre), as well as the historical Preston Park museum and gardens for a more leisurely cultural experience! Oh - and of course, don't forget the Georgian Theatre - where poor Ivan's swansong play was performed...
