The Trail starts at the Riverside Gardens Car Park on Ray Mead Road and leads you along the riverbank and through a quiet residential area to the lock area and beautiful Ray Mill Island. Following a thorough exploration of the island you are then guided back along the riverbank to your starting point.

Please note that although Ray Mill Island is open year round in daylight hours, in winter the opening of the park is decided daily by staff due to a high running river adjacent and the potential for flooding.
